Within the world of design, there lies a remarkable opportunity to breathe new life into discarded materials and challenge the boundaries of sustainability. As an advocate for responsible creativity, I embarked on a design journey that transformed reclaimed marble offcuts into stunning works of functional art.
Inspired by the staggering waste generated by the marble industry, 30% of granite slabs are deemed unfit for countertops leading to their disposal, I sought to repurpose these forgotten fragments and elevate them into something extraordinary. With permission from a local marble company in London, I salvaged discarded and imperfect slabs, determined to extract their hidden potential.
Each piece of marble has a story to tell, a unique character waiting to be unveiled. Guided by the dimensions and inherent qualities of the marble offcuts, I meticulously crafted the shape and form of every tray in the Si Tray Collection. The result? A harmonious blend of elegance, functionality, and sustainable design.
As the warm glow of the sun embraces the marbled surfaces, an enchanting interplay of light and shadow dances upon the tray's silhouette. The delicate veins and rich hues of the marble come alive, offering a glimpse into the timeless beauty that lies within. Through meticulous craftsmanship and the integration of dynamic lighting environments, the Si Tray Collection celebrates the inherent qualities of reclaimed marble.
